As someone who laments the amount of detailed, hands-on analysis being done about new-ish digital editorial properties—seriously, where is the detailed blog analysis that isn't looking to mindlessly build up or break down? For any blog of note?—I think this PressThink piece is an absolute must read: Guest Writer Liz George of Baristanet Reviews Backfence.com Seven Months After Launch.

Related: where's the NYT lead business story on Gothamist LLC, or that big feature on everything DailyCandy has done in the past year to cement the amazing business they've created? These sites are so far beyond the 600 people registered for Backfence.com that it's not even funny.

And on that note: Jeff Jarvis: Local Ain't Easy.

JVG: In Memoriam: Hide/Seek/NYC. Some say best web-based reality game of its generation. Still pissed we let the domain lapse. (Basta, you reading this? Drop a line.)

Visited before, but want to spend some time checking out TravelPost in detail. [Via Alarm Clock on Where are the Travel Startups?] SixtySpots also looked cool, but has been in Web2.0 betahell for over six months now.

Spent the week prior to Thanksgiving in LA and San Francisco on biz, including a trip to a strange world where search requests scroll past (as above) to entertain those waiting at the reception desks. Hot new pix uploaded moments ago to Lock Flickr.
