Barramundi Blues

September 12, 2003 Everyone on the LES has their own reason to hate Mizrahi Realty. Add one more to the list. We hear that the one-story building on Ludlow that houses B14 hall-of-fame watering hole Barramundi and performance art space Collective Unconscious has been sold to Mizrahi, which plans to tear it down to make way for something bigger. Our source tells us that Collective Unconscious is out in a month or two (their lease is up, it is said, though this sad Village Voice report on LES theater closings from March indicates they have another year to go). Barramundi has until August 2004 when they will be gone and demolition will start. (The bar hopes to relocate to a new location nearby.) Our favorite Barramundi moments: (1) friend escorting a 22/F/Upper East Sider to the bar. She is visibly shaken; describes it as "scariest place" she's ever been in NYC; (2) special-k-and-tonics night (don't ask). All in all: just tragic news.

Mizrahi is a collection of assholes and incompetants. Because of them I paid for my electric AND my neighbor's electric for almost two years! I had no idea the bill was twice what it was suppose to be! I complained and they told me to unplug my clock during the day! What is that??!! It took the power being turned off and ConEd sending countless "inspector" to get to the bottom of it! I hate them. Hate them. Hate them. They lie about everything and their henchman (I like to call him slick) you know him...he wears the black leather jacket ALL THE TIME.
