Tiny's Angels Opens

November 13, 2003 Just in time to warm the winds of winter, Tiny's Angels has opened in "a wisp of a shack" on Stanton Street (@ Orchard/Ludlow, seen here in July in plywood form). An offshoot of the terrific Rivington St. lunch haven Tiny's Giant Sandwich Shop, Tiny's Angels serves four daily soups plus homemade desserts and bizarre beverages like plum clove cider. B14 doubleagent AK (of LF fame) offers this first-hand report: "I went last night. I met the very nice Morgan working the soup shack who suggested the veggie meatball minestrone. It was great and I've been waiting for such a place in our neighborhood. I will be a repeat customer, perhaps even in the same day." The downside: it's only open 12pm to 8pm. (UPDATE: "The Tiny's Angels soup stand has ruined my life.")

I wish them success as Tiny's is a good joint.
Ease of use, good food. Hey do I smell franchise? The hours could expand when they get up and running and demand grows.
One thought: Can people handle a cell phone, a smoke, and hot soup at the same time?

tiny's is so not good. they are famously always out of everything, a girl working there stole my hoodie, and can be painfully slow for something as simple as a sandwich.

and to AK - the nabe already has places like this (unless you were specifically yearning for a plum clove cider joint).

hey cd - i mean, "naber" - maybe i'm just plum dumb from smoking too many clove joints but could you tell me the other places that serve delicious, home-style soups on the go? i do enjoy katz's and ratner's but matzo balls are not always my thing.

Popped my Tiny's soup cherry at 12:30 this afternoon. Happy to see that the high prices ($8 for a sandwich??) of the original carried over to the side-project. Had the corn chowder, and although it was cold and I had to reheat, it was fabulous. Big chunks of veggies were good and filling. The jalapeno-corn bread biscuit was a little rubbery, but flavorific. I was expecting a store, a la the Sandwich Shop, so the counter took me by surprise and made me feel bad for that scrawny little girl who will be dead come January.

teany, seasons, angelinas all have good soups to go but apparently you haven't left the apartment in awhile "soupnazi" or you would have realized that ratners has been closed for a long time

thanks cd, you rock! you really know da hood. unfortunately i can't check those places out cause it is true, i haven't left stanton street in 8 years. north/south movement totally disorients me. can you tell me, does katz's still serve brick-shitting sandwiches?
