Allow me to make a pitch for an unheralded DJ from Astoria: Rufus King. I've only heard his mix discs -- never heard his live show -- but this guy is genius: blending Whitney Houston's "I Wanna dance with Somebody Who Loves Me" with Bob Dylan's "Simple Twist of Fate," or "Baba O'Riley" with Madonna's "Ray of Light."
C'mon, Rufus!

Posted by: nigel biggins at May 22, 2003 11:33 AMRufus King is a hack. But the laser show he brings is tremendous.
Posted by: Jordan at May 23, 2003 01:08 PMHack? Surely you jest. By "Hack," I think you mean "name of mysteriously renewed David Morse - Andre Braugher CBS show about a cab driver vigilante," a phrase of praise, rather than "hack," as in, "talentless shlub."
When Rufus King unleashes his can't miss gambits on the dance floor, all hell breaks loose. I've seen it. Seeing is believing.
