Just another place for obnoxious drunk kids to ruin a perfectly good quiet street. IMO Whatever happened to people caring about something other than filling their fat faces with overpriced grub or expensive swill? The new Trucker Hatted Yuppies Rule!....
now back to my Zoloft
Perfectly good quiet street???
If you ask me that street was far from perfect.
Amy, don't really see a depressed street converted into a row of bars that caters to twenty two year olds as nirvana. All that aside, what's this place's deal?
Sort of an N-wine bar (missing swervy thing on top) for the tequila set?
How are the prices? Do they have food?
Whats a shot of Patron cost? It looks nice.
My Zoloft is kicking in..
Trucker Hat Yuppies Rule!
Daily Candy is on the Barrio Chino case today.
Posted by: Lock at August 19, 2003 09:47 AMIt's a nice little bar for THAT street. It nearly blends right in...
The mojitos are about $8 and hit the spot on a warm night. Heard that they might serve some "snacks".
Posted by: Lyla at August 20, 2003 01:32 PMI only have this comment about the place.
When I walk by a bar and it's almost 90 degrees, I sort of would like a place with AC.
They have thier doors open (for the smokers?)
To be inviting? I dunno, thats my 2 cents.
The place has got a great feel for a new bar. Comfortable, nice music selection. Now that it's Fall the AC thing doesn't matter. Really great Barstaff.
Posted by: glenn lazzaro at September 3, 2003 11:16 PMI have never posted a comment to a public website but Amy's comment hit a sour note with me. Before you make any judgments, Amy, people lived on that street way before any Chino Barrios and its ilk arrived. In fact, I grew up on that street so I can tell you that it WAS a perfectly quiet street where people worked hard to make a living and raise their kids. My mother still lives there and she would by far prefer what people like you see as a run down street full of immigrants to one full of loud, obnoxious yuppies who don't seem to care how much noise they make or where they throw their cigarette butts. So, Amy, from all the people who have called that area home way before you even heard of it, we quite liked it the way it was.
Posted by: Susan at September 8, 2003 06:40 PMI think the bigger issue is that Bars are an easy money maker and they do add to the nabe, but ok 17 bars , ok 33 bars, ok, how about opening a cheese shop or something useful. Or a nice little juice bar... I know that takes some more risk. I guess that's the root of my gripes with too many bars. Also I do like a quite street or two, please, just save ONE!
Posted by: sy klopps at September 9, 2003 01:43 PMI've lived on the street for 5 years and that bar has completely ruined it. It WAS a quiet street that people who came in from Jersey or Brooklyn or the Upper West Side didn't know about. Now the bar attracts all of these loud obnoxious people who couldn't care less for the neighborhood and those really stupid trucker hats. They only care about getting wasted and what's on sale at Urban Outfitters. Wait A SECOND, people who'd pay $8 for a small Mojito or Margarita and have their parents paying for their over priced apartment would pay full price. That bar blows. At least Lolita tries to keep people quiet if they have to go outside and at least they went around the neighborhood and got signatures before they moved in.
Posted by: brian at October 15, 2003 08:47 PMBad ass place to hang out. People who complain about are mad that they just do not fit in with the cool kats. Life goes on and you people will find somthing new to complain about.

I'm sure RJK is a cool kat.
It sounds like a bunch of angry, cynical small minded non new yorkers have chosen the bar I used to work at as a place to blow your tocic energy and opinions at.
Open your eyes and minds a bit. That place is about good times and culture. Great people come in and have a good time there. This is a hard as city to be well rounded in and we all need a place to meet with friends and blow off steam.
It's all about being happy within yourself and allowing people to evolve and have a good time in life too.
Negetive energy and attitude is tocic and a waste of time.
Barrio Chino is the shit...Cheska
Dear Francine or Cheska or whoever you are. "Tocic" is spelled TOXIC not tocic as you did twice. Perhaps if you'd like to be a "well rounded" person like you said you should take a class in spelling. My grandfather grew up on Broome street and as I stated earier I have lived on Broome for 5 years and I was born in NYC. So your comment about non-New Yorkers is really quite stupid and uninformed. A bar on every corner for people from the Upper West Side to party at is not what I would call evolution or being well rounded. The next time you're trying to go to sleep at 2 or 3 am and the bar across the street is blasting music out of it's illegally opened windows and doors I'd like to see how poetic you'd be about evolutionary and being well rounded. You know, you're right, maybe if I could get a good nights sleep then I would be in a better mood. Get a life that isn't reliant on liquor to have a good time.

Posted by: brian at March 24, 2004 03:49 PMIt is New York City. It will always have noise, bars and a lot of people. If you complain about noise and you can't sleep, upstate New York is not to far away. Bitch at the landlords, the mayor, yourself for dicating high rents. A juice joint can't pay $7,000 a month for rent. You should be thankful you have the merchants you do on Broome Street.
